RHEL Subscription is in the final review for use of OpenTelemtry Collector with added support for the host metrics receiver in a usage based billing solution for migrations from CentOS to RHEL. The host metrics receiver provides a lighter weight solution over the initial PCP & Opentelemetry Collector prometheus receiver that was initially proposed.
An enhancement proposal has been submitted in OpenShift/enhancements to add an OpenTelemetry Collector-based service for use at the edge, https://github.com/openshift/enhancements/pull/1466
